CONCEPT
A LITTLE ART. A LOT OF CHILDISHNESS.
A 24th birthday celebration built around a simple idea: growing older doesn't have to mean growing out of play.
Set against the darker, moodier backdrop of Halloween, DIY Night reimagined childhood pastimes as an adult social experience. Painting, jewellery making and hands-on activities met cocktails and conversation, creating an evening where creativity was encouraged, perfection was optional and a little childishness was the whole point.
The goal was to create more than a birthday gathering: a space where guests could rediscover the joy of making things simply for the fun of it.
ART DIRECTION
CHILD'S PLAY. GROWN-UP RULES.
The visual identity explored the playful contradiction between adulthood and childhood, borrowing familiar imagery from grown-up social rituals and reinterpreting it through the language of arts and crafts.
Paintbrushes became sophisticated accessories, paint doubled as cocktail imagery, and colourful beads were incorporated into the event details. A moody, Halloween-inspired palette of deep greens, burgundy, navy and orange contrasted with expressive illustrations, handwritten typography and deliberately imperfect details.
Rather than aiming for a polished, conventional event aesthetic, the creative direction embraced the charm of things made by hand. Custom signage and craft-inspired details reinforced the idea that creativity wasn't simply an activity at the event; it was the identity of the event itself.

EXECUTION
A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING. A LOT OF MAKING.
The evening was designed around a series of interactive stations, giving guests the freedom to move between activities, experiment and create at their own pace.
A paint-and-sip setup invited guests to put their own interpretations onto canvas, while a jewellery-making station offered beads, charms and tools for creating personalized bracelets and keychains. A build-your-own cocktail station brought an adult twist to the DIY concept, alongside a make-your-own yogurt bar that extended the hands-on experience into the refreshments.
The environment carried the same playful approach. Handmade-style instructional signs guided guests through each activity, while a table runner assembled from manga pages brought an unexpected visual element to the painting setup, reinforcing the evening's mix of nostalgia, self-expression and creative freedom.
Every station was an invitation to participate rather than simply observe, allowing guests to shape their own experience and leave with something they had made themselves.

TAKEAWAY
GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.
DIY Night explored how a familiar social gathering could become a more participatory experience through playful art direction and hands-on activities.
By making creativity the centre of the celebration, the event encouraged guests to reconnect with the simple pleasure of making something, sharing ideas and enjoying the process without worrying about the outcome.
Sometimes, the most memorable experiences aren't the ones carefully planned for us, but the ones we're invited to create ourselves.
